There are two options for extra credit. 1. Create a glogster which includes characteristics/descriptions of at least five characters and key events/symbols which advertise the novel. Embed the glogster to your reading page. The more creative, the better! (10 points) 2. Create three VOKIs for three different characters. Give clues as to whom they are based on the information given in the VOKI. You could even do a 'Who Am I?" puzzle VOKI. The more creative, the better! Embed your VOKIs onto your reading page. 2) Show your WIKI pages to a parent; show how the pages are linked.
3) With a parent, take the Chapter 3 - 6 quiz again and submit it. This is just for fun so that you can show the process.

5) Put a horizontal line (the button on the toolbar above with the blue line in the middle) ABOVE your group assignment.
6) Have a parent(s) write a comment ABOVE the group assignment. Make sure he or she adds a signature. Save the comment.

Define the terms SUSPENSE and FORESHADOWING.
With your small group, find four examples of suspense. Write the examples as direct quotes on your WIKI page. Add the page number.
With your small group, find four examples of foreshadowing. Write the examples as direct quotes on on your WIKI page. Add the page number.
In a well-written paragraph, explain why your group chose these examples based on the definitions of suspense and foreshadowing.

ASSIGNMENT DUE DATE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2.
- Suspense is a state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. Foreshadowing is a warning or indication of an event that might happen in the feature. - Here are four examples of suspense:
*" Must go through it, I suppose, and thereafter dismissed everything from his mind Warm steaming water-tired limbs-presently a shave-cocktail-dinner. And after-?" (page 36)
*"Job ought to be easy enough, he ruminated. Don't see how I can slip up on it. Hope I look all right." (page 14)
*"Queer business when you came to think of it-the whole thing was queer-very queer..." (page 26)
*"No host or hostess. Very curious state of affairs. Don't understand this place." (page 34). -Here are four examples of foreshadowing
*The part on page 31 was an example of foreshadowing. This was the old nusery rhyme above the mantlepiece.
*"Can't land on Indian island when there's a southeasterly. Sometimes 'tis cut off for a week or more." (page 27).
*"Instructions always very clear and payment prompt, but it was odd, all the same. The papers said there was some mystery about Owen."

*"He was anxious to find out a little about these people who owned Indian Island, but the man Narracott seemed curiously ill informed, or perhaps unwilling to talk." (page 32)
- I chose these specific four direct quotes from the book for examples for suspense because they really show how much the characters were feeling excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. I chose the first one because of the last sentence. "And after-?" (page 36). Anthony Marston was unsure about what was going to happen after. He did not know what could happen in the feature and had a little anxious uncertainty. I chose the second quote because I was feeling anxious about Mr. Blore's job he has to do. Why was it easy enough not to slip up on it? I chose the third quote because Fred Narracott was feeling unsure about what he was doing there. He thought the whole thing about this a a little bit strange. I chose the final quote because Vera was very unsure about why there were so many people at the house but only one couple who was not even at the island yet.
- I chose these four quotes of foreshadowing because these really gave me the feeling that I knew what might happen in the next several chapters. The first quote I found was the best example for foreshadowing. Page thirty-one had the Ten Little Indian poem. This described how each Indian died. This gave me a clue. There are ten people who are going to be in the house and they are all on Indian Island. This is exactly what this poem was explaining. I have a feeling that all these people are going to die at the end of the book because of the situation these ten people are in. I chose the second quote because this gave me the sense that all these people will have to be stuck on the Island for at least a week. The passage to Indian Island would block up and there would be no chance to get off of Indian Island. I chose the third quote because Fred Narracott was very unsure about who was this he got the job from. I saw this as how odd that this person who was driving everyone on a boat to Mr. and Mrs. Owen's house and did not even see them before. I think that this gives the Owens a huge bit of mystery to them...no one really knows who they are. These Owens could end up being horrible people. I chose the last quote because Dr. Armstrong does not know these Owens and the information he has does not add up. He will have to make a judgement when he meets them himself. This means that in the future Dr. Armstrong will have some chance to meet the Owens.
